01 Z06. Voltage on DIC shows about 13.6-13.9 but voltage at battery is about 14.2-14.4. Is this normal? How accurate is the factory gauge?
The reason: I started having the "reduced engine power, svc. trac. control" problem for the last month. I have checked all underhood grounds; none are corroded. The codes I am getting all point to the pedal position sensor. I have ordered a new one but want to make sure the battery/ground is not the problem. Is there a common ground that the pedal and the factory gauge share? I know that a bad battery can cause all kinds of problems in these things but voltage is okay (don't know about the amps).
When you manually hookup a multimeter to the battery to check the voltage, the battery is unloaded. When you turn the key to the "run" position, and look at what the DIC reports for the voltage, there is some load on the system for the various computers and lights, which makes the voltage drop a little bit as reported by the DIC. A 0.5v drop between unloaded and run mode (engine not running) is normal.
The original AGM battery in my '03 was starting to go bad with its voltage dropping low, and at one time, too low to crank. I saw the 0.5v drop as I was checking it out.

Thoughts are much appreciated.
If the voltage is good the amps are good. Ohms law. When you check voltage on a battery it has to sit several hours after being on a charger, otherwise you get a high reading due to surface charge.
