Our A4 coupe seems sluggish when accelerating from a roll. It's certainly not as responsive as our 96 and 99. Off the line it’ isn't bad but unless I really hit the throttle to cause a double downshift, it bogs down when I give it moderate throttle. My dealer checked it and all the readings were fine. This is our every day driver with less than 4K miles, so I don’t want to have to mod it more than the Corsa’s and K&N with Z06 lid but I would like it to feel like a 350 HP sports car. Anyone else noticing this? Suggestions? Thanks gang. – C.
Good point but this is from 35 - 35 trying to get to 55 without having to downshift. TC shouldn't come into play. Seems like it gets into overdrive real fast and wants to stay there. - C.
My 04 A4 had this problem prior to a Predator handheld tune. It also wanted to stay in too high a gear, but the performance tune of the predator changed the shift points and eleminated the problem. It is also MUCH faster off the line.

I am afraid you are experiencing the well known dead spot in acceleration you get with a stock A4. At 35 MPH you are going too fast to down shift into 1st gear so you are forced to accelerate from the bottom of 2nd gear. That is why your acceleration feels sluggish.
The cure for this is a T/C with a higher stall speed.

The A4 has torque management on it, not the same as TC. Even with the gas pedal on the floor the computer will not let the engine produce 100% at slow speeds/low RPM (drive train life). The Predator or any other hand help programmer will disable this and do some other cool things. Look into a programer or find a local tuner, the car will be more of what you think it should be at that point.
