Hello to all. I have just purchased my first C5 Corvette, it is a 2001 coupe with the 6 speed. It is completely stock and has 22,000 miles. I recently completed the restoration of my 66 coupe and appreciate the wealth of knowledge and experience that is available here on these forums. I have so much to learn about these newer cars. I will be interested in making a few minor mods to improve performance and will try to learn which give me the most bang for the buck with the least amount of headaches. My first small project will be to replace the battery, I have been told that these can leak and cause some serious problems. I know that these are electrically intense vehicles so I don't want to assume anything, do I need to do anything special to replace the battery? Also, can anyone recommend a good repair or maint manual so I can begin to learn how to service and troubleshoot my new toy?
I've never lost my radio station presets (if memory serves), even when my car was in storage for the winter. The keyfobs will need to be reset though..
The Optima Redtop is around $100 and can be swapped in two minutes.

Congrats on getting a C5. Hope you really enjoy the car. No special tools needed for changing the battery - just remember that you may have to unlock the radio if you have the theftloc activated. As far as a good manual, get the factory service manual set (3 volumes) from one of the forum vendors like Fred Beans or Ken Fichtner.
