I have a 04 Automatic. Kooks headers, B&B exhaust and x pipe and also a Vararam. I don't race the car just looking for a little more bottom end. I still have the 273 gear. Would I be better off buying a cam or changing the gear to a 342? A mild Cam !!!!
Before you install a cam you should first get rid of the stock torque converter and your 2.73 gears. A high stall T/C like the Yank SS3200 or SS3600 with 3.42 gears will dramatically improve your cars performance from a standing start and from a roll. IMO excluding nitrous a T/C and gears are the best bang for the buck mods you can do on an A4.

Whether he intends to race the car or not if he is going to install a cam he definately should do gears and a T/C first. I think he already has the bug
