I changed my passenger prake pads first, then when I got to the driver's side, I noticed the shims in the package, and installed them on the front and rear. I'm wondering if they are really neccessary and should I pull both passenger wheels off again and put the shims on.
Not necessary. Supposedly stop squeaking and squealing of the brakes but if they are not in there it isn't worth the effort to take the wheels off.

Daniel,
Are you talking about the insulator shims that go on the back of the pad? or are you talking about the metal shims that go over the caliper bracket?

What's up rick. What you doin up so late?
I'm talking about the insulating shims (almost look like a thin strip of fine grit sandpaper), I replaced the metal shims on all the brakes. (3 pieces on each wheel)

I am always up LoL... I guess I am obessed with the forum!
I think Bill pretty much answered the question then. If it was the anti rattle clips you were talking about then I would have given a different answer. Some times people refer to them as shims.

put em on, lol, I did the same thing with mine I got the pasenger front done then knowticed the darn shims, So i went back took the wheel off and put em on, do it its free. it takes time but brakes on these cars are easy as heck, the hardest thing is getting em off the ground, i use a peice of 2x4 infront of the ramps drive on em, and then jackstands. its not to bad once its up in the air, just a pain getting it there.
