I would first get the battery tested. If it fails or is weak, put a new battery in and see if that solves the low reading on your DIC. If the old battery is okay or you put a new battery in and still get a low reading, have the alternator checked out. On other words, go for the easier solution first, then move on to the more expensive one next. Besides, batteries fail much more often than alternators.
