I just finished mine on my 98 and did not need any extensions. I did reroute the existing wires a little bit for some more lenghth took about 15 mins. Good luck and unless you've got a lift you'll probably have to pop one side of the engine up at a time to fit them in.

Did not need them. And I have a lift and still had to pop the engine up for each side. Driver's side is worse than passenger's. Protect your vacuum canister with something. When jacking the driver's side try to lift from the front. Also be careful with your water temp sensor on the head and the oil temp sensor by the oil filter. I broke them both. They are the same part number btw.
I just finished installing KooK's LTs (1 3/4 primaries) last week. The install was a snap compared to what I had expected after reading the threads. I cut my stock exhaust and welded the Kook's connecters to the front of my stock cats.
No extensions for the O2s were needed. Also, I did not have to remove the valve covers as many photos show. I just took off everything recommended in the instructions and jacked up one side of the engine at a time. Nothing is that complicated or difficult. The headers dropped right in no problem. Be careful when jacking not to damage the cowl. I did mine in the garage with the car up on jack stands. The exhaust welding was more of a pain than the header install. If I knew then what I know now I would have bought the Kook's x-pipe setup too.
Send a pm if you have any questions.
Good Luck.
PS - During the tear down, I discovered that my battery was leaking acid from the + post. The car is an 03 with 13,000 miles - WTF. Better check it. This situation resulted in my removing the battery and shield to do the clean up. Acid got all over the frame and the computer which sits just below the battery. That gave me some nice extra room on the passenger side.
No, I only had to get extensions for the rear I believe. Hopefully someone will chime in and confirm.
I actually installed Kooks LT (1-3/4) with their CAT and X-pipe assembly. The tuner I bought the system from recommended the extensions. After installing the system, I do not believe that the original harnesses for the rear would have been able to reach the 02s without using them. On the Cat and X-pipe assembly from Kooks, the rear 02s get relocated further down the tunnel. The original harness might work but it will be a very tight fit.
