Default Z06 crate mtr or ??????????

I am thinking about replacing my 97 LS1 engine with a complete brand new 04 LS6 long block from Fred Beans for about 5400$ shipped

IS there any other alternative to this, maybe a bigger displacement motor or any other TUNER/VENDOR will sell me a package for a simular price, and good street reliable motor??????

Thanks

According to the July 2005 issue of Corvette Magazine (page 10) GM Performance Parts will start selling the LS7 Z06 engine as an over-the-counter item in August of this year. Each crate LS7 engine will be assembled by hand in Wixom, Michigan. Also, GM Performance Parts will offer LS7 components such as crankshafts, rods, heads, and titanium valves individually. No price was given in the short article.

That equals 500 horses right out of the box...

Depends upon your cam selection. But it will make more than you really need.

As far as the LS7, I don't think it's going to be that cheap, and does it also have provisions for a oil pump system, rather than a dry sump?

Call Andy, He will be able to build you a fresh forged LS6 for that price. You can use most all of your stock parts.

Jeff

I'll be picking up my car this weekend. How close are you to A&A?? Wanna do lunch??

I think DTE has a post on some LS2 motor packages
they looked like a possibility, a little more cubic inch and some nice
rwhp numbers

Talk to a vendor...They should be able to do a head/cam package and refresh your existing motor to give you more horsepower than the LS6. I would expect it to be in line with the cost of the LS6 motor shipped + installation.

One thing to take into account, GM crate motors carry a 3 yr/100k warranty, (if you leave it alone, no mods).

The word is that you can get a crate motor as soon as the new Z06 hits the street. http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...05-P930C0.aspx

There are several options, but I would go with a stroker for that price.
