Never used that one. I have had a Garmin StreetPilot III for over 2 years. It's been a great unit. I travel every week all over the country... don't leave home without it. I think either Garmin or Magellan and you won't go wrong. Need to check each out as they work/display things differently. GPS sure makes travel in new places fun!!
I have the Garmin Street Pilot (not in my Vette) and I think it is a first rate unit. I put it in my Cadillac SRX.The mounting system is nice (either bean bag if you want to move it from car to car or a quick release base which adheres to the dash) and I found it to be right on the money 99.9% of the time. I hard wired an extra lighter adaptor out of sight beneath the dash which is where the units power adaptor/ speaker goes so you don't have a wire hanging down to your lighter all the time and ran the plug up to where the unit sits on the dash. All hidden except the plug and the actual quick release base on the dash. Works great.
I use the Dell with a Dell PDA and they talk to each other via Bluethooth. When not using the gps you can use the pda for pda things and even store your Vette pictures or listen to music like a IPOD. The gps talks to you and uses NAVTEC maps which are very good. Jimmy
The Magellan 700 may be a better choice. It has a small hard drive inside and contains all of the maps of the US built in. Most of the others, you have to download maps for a more limited region. I think Garmin has a similar product.
I also have the 700, it's very good and reliable, you can dwnld updates from Magellan's website, i have used it on many trips without error
I actually just saw it in Costco for $849 a great price, i paid a bit more a year ago.
A good point mentioned above that I didn't mention. The units that hold all the data are more convenient for sure. My SPIII has a 128 meg flash card. At the time there was no option to hold everything. So I can have parts of the country, but not all loaded at one time. Not a big deal as I always travel with my laptop, but it is something to consider. All the new high-end units have drives to hold everything. If I was buying one today, I would insist on this feature.
There are some reviews at http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...cfkmdffhdfgo.0
Most reviews are positive but some are negative. They seem to complain that the map data is not up-to-date. I have no experience myself.
