Not just GM, anyone with a Tech 2 can do it. Even you if you own one! You couldn't do this with the early year C5's. But with a 2004, you're okay to do it.
not yourself...GM can do it with the ol tech II tool, most tuners i would *guess* can too...
I think I remmeber a post one time saying some years couldn't be disabled while others can, hopefully somebody else will post the details on that
You are correct in stating that you can turn off this feature on your model year. Here is the deal: the TPM system is managed by your car's BCM. On model years '97 - '00 there is no option to turn off the TPM system. That feature was changed in '01, so model years '01-'04 can have the feature turned off. The Z06 models use the same BCM and were introduced in 2001 WITHOUT pressure sensors. In order to keep the one BCM for the standard C5 and the Z06 models, Chevrolet had to design the switchable feature into the BCM.

I would be thrilled if someone could fill me in on how to disable the frickin LPWS...... for me it's been nothing but a pain. I have 3 C5's and would disable it on all three so I wouldn't have to retrain cars all the time when I move tires around. I have heard also that it is possible to disable the system on certain years. I have a 98, 99, & 00. Any help would be appreciated. I just don't need any comments on why I should be using the system and all it's advantages, etc, etc. I don't even use runflats - I'll take my chances..... just make the DIC quit telling me! Thanks in advance!

You were typing as I was typing. As you can now see, the answer is no.
I don't know how many cycles or whatever causes it, but my DIC messages for Tire Pressures on my '02 disappears after a couple of days, and the tire pressure readings are just blank, not X's.
