Default what can you do to decrease the delay when manually shifting an a-4?

I'm talking about a stock a-4 in my 98..if that makes any difference

When I manually shift it, it seems to take forever to make the shift,
Is there any way to make this crisper without sacrificing longevity of trans?

Thanks for your advise!

Trans go shift kit might do the trick.

I was wondering if that would help with this issue...have you personally used one before?
I know it supposed to make it shift crisper, but not sure if it helps what I'm talking about or not

Install a shift kit. There are numerous DIY instructions on installing one.

I'd get a hold of a qualified tuner in your area for advice regarding shift kits and/or removing some torque management via PCM edit.

Some shift kits and trans mods can kill your tranny real quick.

Hmmmmm......
I thought I heard that the transgo kit actually increased trans life, because of less slippage and thus wear ( maybe I heard wrong)

Thanks for that last bit of info, but does anyone have feedback on the trans go kit? Will it decrease or increase trans life?

I agree with simpleman68. You can do it all through the PCM, but it still won't eliminate the delay. It's pretty simple to shift earlier to compensate. I don't know of any tranny that will hit the gear instantly.

Through tuning you can increase line pressure and remove some or all TM.

Yes I have a flp lv4 with the transgo. Your gonna hear all kinds of opinions on this. All I know is mine works well. Call Finish Line Performance and discuss putting it in your stock tranny. Im done here. Good luck

The 4L60E trans is not set up to be shifted manualy. I have a level 5 from chuck and it still hesatates when manualy shifted. When I race it I put it in 3rd and let the comp. shift it.

Transgo shift kit will ABSOLUTELY do the trick but it also helps to have some of the settings changed in the PCM while you are at it.

DTE did a transgo kit when they did the rest of my work and this things shifts 10x quicker than it did before. There is absolutely no lag at all.

Well, first, thanks to EVERYONE that responded!

Don't take this wrong, but we sure have a lot of different opinions here!... I guess I didn't realize this was a controversial question

It seems there are at least a couple here that have positive first hand experience with the trans go,so , maybe I should take some advise and contact a local tuner and get feedback from them

I know I would like to think it would help my situation, and I am now leaning towards the kit. That may change after talking to..Andy I guess, he seems to be the most respected in my area.

I just didn't wanna bother him with questions( I mean, if I was dropping a few grand there right now or even in the near future for sure, that would be a different story)

I do not want to seem ungrateful to those who responded, because I am very grateful ,and appreciate all your time...I'm just a little confused right now by the disparity.

But, that's what is so great about this place!!!!

it wouldn't hurt to establish a relationship with a reputable local tuner anyway....... but dude, everything (practically) is controlled by the pcm nowadays. shift kit - maybe; pcm edit - for sure
