Can anyone help....i get a buzzing noise for a couple of seconds before and sometimes after my a4 shft gears at low throttle levels...it seems to be coming from the rear . Trans shifts normail temps seem normal max temp i have seen is 220 long city driving. I am doing a tc and gears next week and the trans will be out so i would want to fix any problems now.
thanks

Mine does that, too. I'd describe it as a rumbling right before the car downshifts, then vibration afterwards. It is almost nonexistent with the a/c off, but with the a/c on, it gets to be really annoying. I had the fluid flushed and the filter replaced and that did not help things.
Yes, I heard a similar buzzing sound last night while cruising. It seems to happen at low speed during slow acceleration. Have no idea what it is. Sounds like some king of vibration in or below the rear quarter panel.
Anyone else hear this, or is my medication just wearing out?
Goodyear runflats will cure that noise..........I have an A4 and now I am going to have to go drive mine to see if mine does that. Darn it......I just cleaned all the bugs off for tomorrows "Drive your Vette to work Day" and now I'll need to clean it again tonight..........oh the joy never ends.........bugs on, wax off, bugs on , wax off
I will keep tabs on this post. Thanks for the heads up.
there is no way its coming from tires...its a mechanical buzzing like a pump turning on just before a shift ..my car id a a4 99
It was a joke......you won't hear the sound if you have or put on Goodyear runflats..............like turning up the volume on the stereo........lighten up.........jeeeeesh
My car is being look at the Stealership for the same reason ... buzzing or whining noise during slow accelleration and a little bit noiser during decelleration. I'll find out today what they came up.

VetteSiNz - please do keep us posted. I was going to (and probably will) take my car in for this, as well, and I'd most appreciate hearing what your dealer has to say.
Update: Mechanic check every mechanical under the car (transmission, rear axle and differential, and shaft) including the suspension and what he found out is that both front tire are started to cup (worn out in the inside sidewall) and causes it to rotate unbalance. Although it won't give you any vibration in any speed, it makes the whining noise. The worst tire is the front driver side. Told me to replace tire and get a four wheel alignment. I guess it's time to get a non run flat tire. It's only just over 17k miles on the G/Y run flat.
Thanks for the information. Guess I'll have to take my vette into a tire shop and have the tires checked out. My vibrating sound (buzz) seems to come from the passenger side rear area.
I have a nagging thought that my buzzing could be something else.
thats not what my noise is..i was able produce the noise while torque braking at about 1500 rpm. It buzzes then it stops above 1500. Maybe somthing is loose

How loud was your buzzing?
I'll have to try your method and see what happens.
