Default Codes After Header Install

I keep getting the codes below after long tube header install:

P0133 HO2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 Slow Response (sensor was replaced)
P0153 HO2 Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1 Slow Response

Is this caused by the relocation of the sensors from the stock position?
Is there any fix? Do I have to live with this?

It's funny that some people never see these codes while others do.

I had the same problem after putting LGM LTs on my car and running all 4 02 sensors.

The factory front 02 sensors, which are low wattage heated units, work very well with the factory manifolds because they're closer to the engine and thus are able to maintain the required operating temperature. When you put LTs on the car the front 02 sensors are moved down-stream in the exhaust and may not be able to maintain the proper temperature to work effectively. This is usually indicated by the "slow response" OBD2 error codes popping up (P0133/P0153).

Note that the OEM rear 02s in our cars are higher wattage heated units because the exhaust gases are too cool at that point to maintain the operating temperature of the 02s.

When running LTs, the trick is to replace the low wattage front 02 sensors with two new higher wattage rear 02 units. This means your car will be running with 4 02 sensors of the same type, which isn't a problem. Running higher wattage 02 sensors up front will result in the required operating temperature for proper readings and should prevent the "slow response" error codes from popping up again. Note that a special 02 wiring adapter is required in order for you to plug rear 02 sensors into the front 02 wiring harness. Several websites sell the wiring adapters (one being LG Motorsports).

I did this very change to my car and I haven't had any more "slow response" error codes come up since. The only bad thing is the cost of the OEM rear 02s.

One dollar say the wires are burned from touching the headers or are unplugged for one of the rear the rear 02 sensor. I don't remember whether 133/153 is the right or left side. 133/153 is one side and 134/154 is the other. Don't ask me how I got so smart.

These codes are common with LGs. It does not hurt performance. Just get the idiot light turned off via LS1Edit, etc.
