Default Service Column Lock/Remove Key for 10 Seconds message from computer display?!?!?

I've been having loads of problems lately after having my car service by some jerkoff who obviously didn't know what he was doing. After the a/c was replaced, it started draining into my passenger compartment and developed a nice squeal everytime i'd turn with the a/c on. Now to make matters worse, my steering wheel is locked up and i keep getting the error message "service column lock" and "remove key for 10 seconds..." What does this mean? Is this possible water damage on the computer from the a/c draining in the passenger side? Also, if the computer is fried i know it will be pricey, would I be out of line for having the mechanic foot the bill after I take it to the dealer to get fixed? I have no problem suing the guy if that's what it comes to, but i know he's gonna want another crack at fixing it.

This sounds pretty close to my situation.

I didn't catch the drainage problem till it was too late I guess.

I'm on the phone right now ordering a BCM. ~$300

Gmpartsdirect shows a price of ~$170 for a BCM.

I'm sure Fred Beans or Fitchner will match.

Well, after replacing the BCM and Column Lock, I found the problem to be a $20 relay.

Look under the dash above the BCM. There are 2 relays. The black one on mine was bad.

BTW, my BCM fried from all the moisture.
