I have an 01 vert with 13K, MN6 and sometimes when I am driving if I hit the gas to accelerate hard it sounds like I have a bad tank of gas, (I put a fresh tank of 93 octane in 100 miles ago) I get that rattle but it's kind of loud, it seems to go away after about 20 mins. I'm familiar with piston slap there is no noise when I start the car cold only under hard acceleration, btw it seemed worse when the ac was on. Any ideas, posted in C5 Gen. also...thanks

You should try adding Xylene to your gas. Xylene is a chemical that occurs naturally in crude oil but is supplemented by additional amounts made in the refining process. It is used in many common products, such as paints, rubber, adhesives, plastic bottles and clothing.
I add a 32 oz bottle to a tank of gas which usually stops the denotation noise you are referring to. You can find it at you local Home Depot, Lowes or paint store. Xylene is said to be 100% octane and it has anti-varnish properties. I have been using it for years in both of my C5's and have never had any fuel related or engine problems.
