If I change my tstat do i need to do anything else like mess with the computer? Thinking of a 160 or 180 for the hot weather here in orlando. Thanks!

I went with a 180 in my 97...I was climbing in the 240's or higher in stop and go traffic way too hot for my blood...I average around 195 ish now driving...I did nothing to the fan settings and they still come on and go off like normal...but a whole hell of a lot cooler now! in my opinion, 240 degrees is hot on an all aluminum motor...I feel better knowing the highest it gets now in the same stop and go is 220...and summers here in Florida as you well know are brutal!

have fun with the mod! well worth the $$ spent

you don't have to change anything computer wise but the fans will still come on at the temperatures for the original thermostat. When cruising, this won't matter and the temps will be lower. In traffic the fans still will come on at the same temps as they did with the original thermostat and it will probably still get just as hot as it did originally. Different people have different outcomes...as posted above, sometimes temps will be lower all the time. I'd reccomend doing it regardless.

need to change the fan times or you are wasting your time...

also you may want to pull your radiator shroud and seperate the 2 coils and hose them out real GOOD....they collect alot of crap grass etc. that will really affect cooling..I just did mine...made a HUGE difference. The A/C coil lifts up and you can pull it away from the radiator about an inch and a half to get the nozzle down in there...try this before switching your tstat

i had to take the radiator+condensor out+2200psi pressure washer+140psi air hose to get all the crap out of mine...temps dropped 40 degrees... I can sit in any conditions with it over 100 degrees outside and AC on high and not break 196 degrees now...
