Default Typical A4 Transmission failure?

For those of you that have had to have tranny work done on your A4, what was the cause of the failure. Most other cars I deal with it has always been the converter failing. If the converter is replaced as a "preventative measure" what else might be likely to fail in the future? Thanks guys

i have never had converter problems with my a4 i am running a yank 3200 stall yank makes the best converters on the market i have had 3rd & 4th valve body soleniod clutch packs worn out not allowing 3rd & 4th to shift 756 code i hear this is the weak link in the a4

I guess what im wondering is if my tranny has 84K on it and i replace the converter with a aftermarket high performance one (prob a yank) will I also be eliminating most of my future transmission problems?

probably not these a4s are junk they just dont hold up with a significant amount of power in front of them i would say 350 rwhp is the limit any more power than that & your gonna have tranny issues until you buy a built a4 ,something i did after i allready tried to build my stock a4 with built tranny parts, i still had tranny issues, my car is down right now waiting on chuck @ flp to finish building my level 4

3rd and 4th clutch paks are weak, contact Rodney Crashed94 and he will lead you in right direction.

Getting a full rebuild with upgraded 3-4 clutchpack and add a good size cooler. Those along with that converter should eliminate any transmission problems you'll encounter.

P.S. Going to a high stall converter creates more heat, heat is what kills the A4. Just make sure you get a big enough tranny cooler.
