Default Baby Needs New Shoes

I have a 2002 6spd coupe and we are at the end of life in the EOM tires (Goodyear) Looking for a tire with a better ride for year'round use. I live in NJ so we get all kinds of weather. I drive her almost every day (except if road is snow covered). So i am looking for a tire that will give me good wear, quiet ride, and good wet & dry traction.

Only tires I can find that are runflats other than the Goodyears are Kumho ECSTA MXor Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

So what do you think?

I just put Michelin Pilot sport ZP on. I have not had them
very long but I am happy with them They seem to have a
better ride, are quieter, and handle well. They were also
cheaper than replacing the OEM goodyears.

IMO, any run flat spec tire will be noisy hands down. I went with pilot sports and they are quiet as a mouse plus it grips hard.

I currently have the Michelin PS2 tires on my FRC. If you're looking for an extremely grippy tire in dry and wet conditions the PS2 comes Highly reccomended from me. They are asymmetrical tread design instead of directional, so you can rotate them side to side very easily. I've had them for 3k miles and they've been a pleasure so far. Treadwear is 220 , traction AA temperature A. Price is pretty much the same as the Pilot Sports. Good luck with your decision.

What about the fact that there is no spare. Do a lot of highway driving?

I've had mine for ~1,000 miles and love them. Better than the Goodyears.

I LOVE mine...the price is cool, the look is fab, and they feel great on the road. Go for it!

I just looked at Tire rack and they don't identify the ECSTA MX as a runflat!

Default Look again...

If you look right after the size ..Front: 245/45yr17 Run Flat or when you do the search, just check the option for runflat only and you will see them....$173 front, $238 rear

Me too

And since they are an all season tire, I might make it thru an inch or two of snow

The secrets words are TIRE RACK

You can get them in run flat and non run flat. Go with the non-run flat, they are excellent tires.

Do the non run flat grip better than the run flat - I'd much rather have a tire go half flat @ 120 mph than fully flat - and I've seen both happen in races.

I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S when I took off the Goodyear Run Flats. I've got 33K miles on them. I went with the non-run flats and bought an electric pump and plug kit. Lucky for me, I haven't had to use it. The non-run flats seem to be a lot smoother and responsive than the run flats.

I'm on the forum tonight looking for tire ideas myself. The rears are down to the cords. I'm interested in the PS/2's but the treadwear on the A/S is hard to beat.

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP tires. Mine also is a daily driver. We had lots and lots of rain this last winter in So Cal (like 35 inches of rain) and the vette was rock solid in the rain. I was truely amazed at how well this car with these tires worked in heavy rain.

I've had the Ecsta's on all my cars now since 2001. The dry grip is incredible, they work very well in the wet, and road noise is non-existant. In fact I'm still on my first set of Khumo's on the T/A, and she's no garage queen here in MI. Driven year-round by the wife, even in the worst snow storms.
