Default Twilight Sentinel question...

I am the proud new owner of a Canadian 2002 ZO6. The Government up here doesn't seem to think we know the difference between night and day, and as a result the twilight sentinel feature cannot be turned off. When I start off in the morning from my garage the lights come up and, more often than not, stay up until I shut off the engine. It looks sooooo retarded, driving around with my lights up in broad daylight. Not to mention all that un-necessary wear-and-tear on a fairly complex headlight system that has "I'm gonna screw right up on you" written all over it. Is there some way of re-programming something to get around this. What actually controls the lights...the body control module? Could I possibly replace it with a US spec piece? I really feel the need to stick it to the man on this...infringing on my right to drive without lights in the dark, ya know?

i know a dealer can turn it off with tech II tool. you may have to come to the states to have it turned off, a buddy of mine in toronto tried and the dealer wouldn't turn it off... he drove to detroit and had it done. chargerd him 1 hr labor. unless you know someone with the tech II scanner .... it's the Z49 or Z94 opiton i think something like that.....

Thanks for the info! It would be really great if that was all there was to it. I'll call up a couple of dealers tomorrow and see if they'll do it for me.

I live just north of Toronto in Richmond Hill. My gf used to live in Whitby, and it never ceased to amaze me how fast I could get there...40mi in 20min or something!

When I start my 01 in the shop, the headlights come up but in the day time, within 30 seconds they go back down outside in the daylight.

You may have a problem with a sensor that needs looking into.
