My car has been running hot on the highway and cools back down after, in stop and go.. Strange .. Anyway when i squeeze the hose i can here a clicking noise in the therm housing is this normal? Guess im gonna have to switch it out just wondering if anyone else has this noise.. And no debris or anything blocking air flow.. Any ideas.. fluid levels are normal fans are cranked.. hope its not my water pump..
Look under the car up at the radiator. There is the collection area for trash from the high way high up on the a/c condensor. I have found as much as 20% blockage. This will limit air flow at highway speeds. I suspect you have plugging. 99 Nassau Blue

It should run warmer in traffic and cooler on the highway. If you remove the upper radiator shroud, you may find debris in the radiator which is behind the A/C condenser.

My Vette has started to run hotter than normal also. I'm pushing 240-250 . Zero debre in the radiator... I'm draining the fluid as I type so I can pull off the thermostat and see what's going on.
I can't see any sign of leaks... My coolant level is right were it should be. My fans are coming on at the right temporature.... my second fan comes on when I have the air conditioner on.
Seems like I have more of a problem when the AC is on. Not too many parts in the cooling system... must be a sticky thermostat, or a water pump thats not moving enough water.

I put mine in boiling water and it opened about 1/2 inch. Put it in cool water and quickly closed. Now that I have the coolant drained... I'm thinking I might replace the water pump... It's only 2 hoses and 6 bolts away from being off... 10 minutes.
If someone can chime in and let me know how much action I should see on the thermostat.... that would help to let me know if I should hit the pump or not.
I found some generic websites that stated, the movement should be 1 inch.
Thanks

George, it may be a problem with the Vararam. Sorry I can't help you. I would think it would open untill the spring was fully compressed. Usually when a pump fails you'll know it.
