When I did my t-stat install I lost quite a bit of fluid...even when pulling the hose off and lifting it up high I still dropped out a jug of coolant and almost a whole gallon of distilled water! Just be prepared to replace that amount...I had those on hand so it wasn't too bad- but it was a mess! be careful tightning those bolts back as well...its all aluminum and can easily strip out as you tighten her back up...by the way, I went with a 180 t-stat and dropped almost 25 degrees off my normal driving temps!

According to E-T, if you have everything set and ready and are quick and the engine cool, you can do it with minimum coolant loss. I lost about a 1/2 gal or more when I did it, oh well..

Put a bucket under the car and drained until below thermostat level. Poured the captured coolant back in.

Cool thanks, isnt it bad if some of the coolant gets on some or any of the engine parts?

I didn't lose hardly any. Just be ready to do the switch. Follow these instructions.

Make sure you don't let air get into the system. Vettes are a pain to purge air from the cooling system and trapped air will cause the car to run hot.
