Yes you will see some gains and the more mods you add down the road, the better the cam will work. If you really are on a tight budget, I can sell you some brand new 03' Z06 springs and retainers, they have never been used. They came with a set of brand spanking new Z06 heads that I had LPE ported and other springs and Ti retainers installed.
They are sitting here all boxed up in a Manley box. I've never listed these for sale, but if ya need them, let me know.
just a ?. but what about just installing 1.85 rockers untill the heads are replaced looks to me like less duplicated work, also I would pin the crank while I had the cam out.
Check around to see how cars are running on stock heads with that cam. I thought I heard the car will run a bit rough with stock heads. I also think at that point the stock headers do become restrictive and changing them out will give you the most out of the cam.
As for me see my sig...
See my SIG. BTW, you have got to change out the factory headers.
Thats funny, you've been misinformed...Check out http://ls1howto.com/ the complete guide to header and cam swaps. I just finished headers, camshaft, and new valve springs on my 2004 C5. I can tell you the heads do not come off..Heck the intake manifold doesnt even have to come off..
That personal preference will add 4 hours more labor to your bill...Plus the extra cost of head bolts, head gaskets, intake manifold gaskets. Here you go. Cam and valvesprings only swap. The intake manifold even stays on... http://ls1howto.com/index.php?article=23
