My 98 Coupe started doing something quite annoying last week.
Whenever there's a load on (ie. whenever i press the gas pedal) I hear this squeeking sound. Sounds like it's coming from the back. My first thought was exhaust leak, but it sounds more like a circular or rotating squeek. It's almost a 'mouse'-y squeek.
When I coast the problem seems to disapear, or at least greatly diminish.
Also, it will do it some while in neutral, but not as much or as loud.
Any ideas before I pay mucho deniro to get it looked at

I'll throw a thought out..Isn't there a rubber bushing in the driveshaft (in the torque tube) that the main shaft could be rubbing against.
Im taking my car to MTI here in Houston on Friday to get a diagnosis on a similar sound. I'll let you know what I find out. BTW, mine is a 6spd.
Where is MtI? I have call information like 25 times looking for a phone number, address or website and I have had no luck
I am in west Houston (katy area) and I thought it was close to me, like on westheimer but i can't seem to find it
Mine has the AC squeak too, and as I understand it is caused by a pulley on the AC belt. I've just been spraying it with silicon grease but it'll be replaced eventually.

Well, they said I just have an exhaust leak... SO...we'll see what happens.
MTI is located at Dairy Ashford and Westheimer. If you turn South on Dairy Ashford at Westheimer, the road begins to narrow from 3-2 lanes.
At the point where 3 become 2, take a left turn on the side street (Oxford Park Dr., there is a AutoZone there) Go past the mechanics/auto shop and MTI is there on the left had side.
If you need something checked out, I recommend calling in advance to schedule it...drive up business is not their preferred method of doing business.
