Default Help! Seat doesn't move forward or backward

I would usually do a search on the topic first, but I don't have the time right now as I gotta be somewhere soon. Got into my car a few minutes ago to find that the seat does not move forward or back, only up and down. When I push the button forward or back to make the seat move I hear a clicking noise, like the motor is trying to work, but there is no movement. Could this be a fuse problem? Any help would be much appreciated!

You don't by chance have sheepskins on your seats, do you? Reason I ask is I had my seat refuse to move, and found that one of the straps for the skins had slipped into the gear train and locked it up.

If you don't have the skins, I don't know...

No, I don't have sheepskins. Although, now that you've mentioned it, could it be possible that something has got stuck on the track or gear train causing it to look up?

ANy codes ?
I fixed mine
Pull seat look at connectors under seat see if they are damaged or have pins coming out. If the search function worked i created topic for telescopic wheel fix and you can find some info there.

The first thing I did was check for codes. Nothing showed up. I guess I will have to get under there somehow and check for any loose connections. I really hope the motor has not gone. Thanks for the replies.

Both of mine died. The pass seat must have gotten a little water on the PC board in the switch and it corroded, a little solder and now its fine. The driver seat had a broken wire going into the plug under the seat. I pulled it out and fixed that one too. The seat unbolts very easily.

I'm hoping it's a broken or disconnected wire. Will let you know soon.

I had the exact same problem with my car. I found that one of the connectors under the seat had a broken wire piece inside of the connector. I had to do some fancy soddering to get it fixed. It was not easy to find either. I had to hook the seat up while out of the car and wiggle each wire while moving the seat forwards and backwards to find the broken wire. If I remember correctly, the wire that was broken was a puke green.

Good luck, its not that bad, just takes patience.

Well, found the cause and that's the exact same problem as mentioned above! Green wire has broken off and it's right behind one of the motors making it almost impossible to get too . I took the seat to a local mechanic/friend of mine and he said he would take care of it. I don't have the time or patience right now to sit there and play with wires.

My telescoping wheel also does not work and to move the seat back you have to hold the switch down and back at the same time!?! I pulled the seat today and found 2 black wires and a purple wire pulled out and replaced them. That didn't seem to fix anything and it does the same thing. There doesn't seem to be any other wires loose or broken... any ideas?

Thanks,

Rick

Does anyone know if there are any fuses or relays that could be linked to this problem?

The switch could be bad or might be a dirty switch.

It's got me stumped... I'm thinking it may be the switch, however it's weird that the telescopic wheel doesn't work either...

Use the link I provided in earlier post. Take the connector apart under seat the orange wires are the tele wires. Look for any pins pulling out of connector. Thats where my issues were.
