knocking pinging
Help. My vette keeps knocking and pinging. Sounds like a diesel engine when climbing the rpm's from about 1300-2000, but for a few seconds. I've added fuel system cleaner, replaced the fuel filter, and changed the plugs. It went away for a day or two when I changed the plugs this weekend. But, now it's back. The service advisor at Chevrolet advised me it might be carbon buildup and may require a cleaning via some solution sprayed into a vacuum hose on the engine. But, before I pay them to do anything again, I was hoping someone out there has experienced this and had advice.

Try adding Xylene to your gas. You can buy it at your local Home Depot or paint store. Do some research on the internet about using xylene and toluene as octane boosters. It takes a lot of it to actually raise octane but I have found that about 32 ounces stops my vette from pinging. My best advice is to use only enough to stop the ping and that may take some experimenting. Your car may need more or less than 32 ounces to stop the pinging. It all depends on the car.
