Remote Start
Anyone got any experience with a remote start on a 97. I just
sold my 78 SA and picked up this 97 driver. It was not sold as a vehicle with remote start but if I hit the lock button twice the engine will start. I returned it to the dealer and asked them to remove the remote start but they claim their is no remote start on the vehicle. I asked them how do you explaine the car starting if you hit lock twice. They can't figure it out.
Anyone seen this happen. Anyone have an after market remote start, if so how is it connected and where so I can try to find it myself.

If you have a remote start is should be located underneath the driver's knee bolster. You will need to remove a few interior parts to get at it. Once under there locate the back of the ignition key. There is a large wire harness on the back of the key...follow that harness. Somewhere there will be several splices into that harness. Trace the splices back and it will lead you to the remote start unit or the relay pack for the remote start. You could simply remove the fuse from the remote start unit. That will dissable it. If you are going with electonics you can go through the car and remove the unit totally. But if you do not have experience in that area I highly recommend you leave it to a professional.

DEI makes the remote start, but I still have never seen the factory remote used, in person. I have heard stories, but never seen it.
