When it comes to T/C selection....... Choose wisely, grasshopper!! Speak to several people that have made the swap, heck try to get a ride in a few different cars.
It seems to me T/C selection is the same as choosing an exhaust..... comes down to performance expectations and taste & preference.

Have fun!
My torque converter is my most effective modification.
Wow, talk about SOTP rear carrier change speed time!! After reading Mike Mercury's pages on rear carrier swap, I was kinda thinking it would take between 12 - 15 hours for a first timer.
How many guys helped you? What are your recommendations for making it easier to do (for those of us who have never swapped a carrier but plan to do it in the future)? Anything procedure wise you'd do different next time?
When I did mine. all that was available was the method of removing the torque tube assembly. Now that the tilt-down method was discovered, I can imagine it greatly reduces the time of a carrier swap.
As the post originator continues on modding; just remember that
traction does not remain a constant...
well...just me and a friend of mine did the job.....all went pretty easy
1. put entire car in the air
2. pull wheels and brake calipers(rear of course)
3. disconnected e-brake cables and any electrical plugs
4. separeated upper a-arm and shock mount
5. dropped rear member/suspension
6. dropped entire exhaust from cats back
7. removed the torque tube cover/backbone cover..whatever it's called
8. slowly lowered tranny till rearend could slide off
then just installed everything back together....and now i'm loving it
I want to do a gear change myself.Do you have to dissconnect the battery when doing a gear change?Did any DTC's come up when you did it? I have a Hypertech 3, And plenty of tools.Would that be enough?

Hypertech and the C5-A4 don't mix. The HPIII has a bug, and won't do gear scaling on anything except factory available ratios (2.73, 3.15 only).
You'll need to buy another programmer - or pay someone with LS1Edit to make the necessary changes.
