Default QTP dual electric exhaust cutout install...

This is my 3" QTP electric cutout install -

I installed the switch in the center console, replacing the accesorry plug with a 1 1/8" Metal Hole Plug (#139415) from Lowes. Drilled hole for the switch, scuffed, and painted flat black...

The 3" exhaust system was installed and polished by

A great mod!!

That looks awesome . It's a shame it's mostly hidden under the car. I installed my QTPs in the X pipe. I installed the switch where the ashtray used to be under the flip up cover. It really roars at full throttle .

Has anyone realized any power gains from these cutouts? It seems like a great mod.

I doubt there is much of a power gain. Sounds great when the time is right .

Did the same switch install. Like Silver's idea better though. Got my QTPs mounted pointing down, where the Catback goes up (over the rear axle). Nothing fancy...unseen from anywhere but UNDER the car.

I also like the idea of installing the switch in the ashtray area, but I needed to leave that availabe for the nitrous switches...

The cutout motors are parallel with the 4" exhaust tips and directly behind them. Can barely be seen unless getting below the tips to look...

The design was my idea and was fabricated and polished by Stainless Works

Cool set up, mine are right behing the axle on the cat backs with small turn downs pointing down.

I had my switch in the same location as yours also.

But I receintly moved it to next to the ashtray where the lighter was because it was more convienent for me to use the power souce in the glove box than next to the ashtray to charge my phone while driving (phone can't fly around in the glove box like it does in the "cup holder"). I don't have any pictures of it there yet though.

You have to love the look on people's faces when you rev it, open it up and rev it again, then close it and rev it. On most people you can see the wheels turning in there head as they try to figure it out! I love em.

Terrific looking setup, BIG props go out to Stainless Works for a fantastic shine!!!

Could we get a sound clip? Ya know, some corked/uncorked at idle & maybe revving? I'm sure we'd all love to hear that beast.

Great pix by the way.

I really like the location of the QTP. I've been monitoring threads on this topic and wasn't thrilled with installs that point the exhaust downward under the car. I figured that'll just blow up a lot of extra dust and crap so seeing your install makes me consider doing this mod even more!

How did you route the wiring?

Looks great!

Although it may incite a lynching by my neighbors... I'll see what I can do...

The wiring was run inside the car down along side the tunnel and out a rubber grommet on the underside of the small storage area in the trunk on the passenger side...

Thanks for all the compliments!!

My thoughts when going with the cutouts was that I wanted them to exit out the back - as they should... When the cutouts are closed, the exhaust goes through the mufflers and the two outside exhaust tips exclusively. When open, the exhaust takes the path of least resistance and goes out the center tips with just a little still exiting out the outer tips...

- Stainless Works LT Headers
- Random Tech Metal Matrix High Flow Cats
- Stainless Works 3" X-pipe
- Stainless Works 3" Turbo Muffler System

** right click and save **

Clip #1 - CLOSED - Startup, idling, and revving (3.03MB)

Clip #2 - OPEN - Startup, idling, revving, closing of cutouts (4.00MB)

I'm now ready for the 383 Stroker motor, Methanol injection, smaller pulley, and 345 BFG DR's...
