Default Intake filters question.. What changed in 2001?

K&N has a different part number starting in 01. Will it still fit in a 97? This is the full neck and filter setup.

Larger diameter neck needed in '01 and later.

would it work? Home much larger and where? If it is something that can be taken up with the hoseclamp I don't care.
At the TB?

The MAF sensor dia. increased from 75mm to 85mm in 2001. The TB is the same.

No, you cannot "take it up" with a hoseclamp. The MAF-to-duct connection is critical and must be tightly sealed, any (unmetered) air leaks here (or at the TB) will cause problems.

ok so I got the newer style K&N (2001+) setup and had to do some modifications to make it work. I was surprised to see that the filter top and bottom are made of carbon fiber on these things.

The vacuum line going to the fuel line needed a home so I drilled a hole and then counterbored it so a gromet would fit in with the thick plastic. I also needed to open up the hole on the bottom of the filter for what appeared to be an evap line. Other than that it was bolt in. No problems with any of the diameters and everything sealed nicely.

Car sounds the same but does feel like it gained alot on the top end. I am happy with the 125 bucks I spent on it..
