Default C5 tires and lock nuts etc

I would like to know if guys are running EMT tires since our C5s have no spare tire. And also, I just bought my first C5, a pre-owned 2000 and noticed that each wheel has a lock nut and I don't see a key anywhere in the car to unlock these lock nuts?? When I purchased my C4 there was a key in the console used to unlock the wheels. Where can I get this key??

I'm new to C5 thus the dumb questions!!

Locks did not come on my 03, but there is a depression by the left rear cargo cover that some folks have said hold their lug nut key.

I did put locks on mine and that is where my key is now...

If your wheel locks are GM their are kits that the dealers get that have all the wheel lock keys in them. They should help you ether find the right key or remove your locks and sell you new keys. Also IMO I would remove those emt tires and put non runflat tires on it. Just carry a zo6 tire patch kit or something simular. It will ride and handle soooo much better

Good tips! Thanks. I assume the tires I have are EMTs. They are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP (Zero Pressure) tires??

I agree with turboc5. I had the same thing on mine. Got it at a dealer and there was no key to use on the wheel lock. I took it back and they had a box with, I assume, with all the different keys. They got the locks off and gave me a new set of the GM wheel locks so I'd have the wheels locked and a key to get them off.

As for the tires I thought the Gooodyear EMTs that came with the car were extremely noisey on concrete Interstate roads. In fact, I'd say, they were noisey on most pavements. I replaced them with the F1 D3 Goodyears and love them! Much quieter on all pavements and seem to ride and handle better. If I start losing air in any of them I'm counting on the warning you get from the tire pressure monitor to give me enough advance warning to either get home or to a shop.

Some good tips from our fellow CF members. I think you will find out that most people here are running non-EMT's. All you need is a good compressor and a tire plug kit. All can be bought for about $25-$40 at your local Wal-Mart. Good luck and enjoy your Corvette.
