Park your car in front of your garage door on a flat and level surface,

Turn on your headlights,

Turn the headlight switch back one notch-leaving the lights off and the headlamps up,

Take a quarter and remove the plastic plug,

Look inside,

You'll see a brass Gear immediately ... and another further inside, more towards the bottom of the headlight assembly ... I forget which one controls what.

I use a 7mm socket to turn the gears. Make your adjustments.

Replace the plastic plug.

Voila! Go have a beer

I've got a related question.

Last year I took my car to the dealer to have the lights adjusted (I had the car for a month or so). When they were done the drivers side high beam pointed very far up. For example, it lights up the top of trees about 1/2 block away.

It was worse than when I brought it in. When the service advisor had the car returned to me he showed me a "service bulletin" (did not look as official as I'm used to seeing w/Ford products, did not let me keep it) about this being a common issue. He said that it was not something that Chevy could fix without replacing the entire assembly and the service bulletin states that it is not sufficient cause for the replacement.

Has anyone seen or heard of this before? Its been bugging me for a long time and I should just bring it to another dealer. Does the brass gear mentioned adjust both headlights in tandem?

Any thoughts or comments?

the one nearest the hole in the bezel controls side to side adjustment. the one deeper in controls altitude. i couldn't get at the inner one easily through the access port in the bezel so i just removed it. it's a piece of cake with it removed.
