I posed this question in the general forum ysesterday with no real answers and for some weird reason I'm really curious about this...
Just finished washing the Vette and beater Taurus and noticed... front calipers on the Ford are mounted forward of the wheel, Z06's are mounted toward the rear of the wheel. Is this just a matter of conveinience for the engineers or are there advantages/dis-advantages to either position?
Jeeze- way too much time on my hands..... thanks for humoring me. eric
My guess would be convenience as if you look at F1 cars they mount them at 6 oclock directly on the bottom to keep the center of gravity as low as possible.
Did you notice that the calipers in the rear are mounted in front of the wheel? That's only because the uprights are the same for front-left & rear-right, and also front-right & rear-left.
