Just completed the CLB install on my M6. Column is unlocked and stays unlocked with key is turned off. Question is--when turning the key on (before starting engine) there is a "whinning" sound that lasts about 3 sounds then stops. Sounds like a motor running or something in reset mode. Can't tell what the source is and it does not happen when turning key off. Is this associated with the column lock attempting to unlock when turning key on meaning CLB is not working or is it normal and maybe not relayed to CLB? For those of you with the CLB do you hear this sound or is all quiet during engine start?
I pulled and reset fuse with key on after install per instructions and do not get any DIC messages.
Unless this whining sound is coming directly from the Steering Column area I would guess that it is not related.
It sounds like you might be hearing the fuel pump starting up. Normally you don't hear this sound because when you insert the key and turn you don't normally stop..you just go all the way to "Start".

I have been told by a few people that you are supposed to allow the feul pump to complete its 3 or so sec cycle BEFORE you try to start the car. I heard its better for the motor. I have always done that with my cars since I heard this. I can also hear the fuel pump start up in my RT Dakota.
