I love open track days (3 so far) but seems like **** happens.
When I left Willow Springs last week I had an annoying squeek all the way home on the freeway. Figured I loosened something up again
Well it misteriously went away until yesterday when it came back. But now I only hear it at low speed braking!!
Sounds like it is coming from the fuel fill cap but its not....I taped and stuffed the area. Only when brakes are applied at lower speeds. Brakes seem to work fine.
when something makes a noise like that while applying the brakes.. its usually something that has to do with the brakes... hard to tell without seeing it. Its tough to run a C5 out on the track... with all the upgrades the car needs to do it right, one can plan on upgrading all the components in between track events with NO time to drive it on the street. Been there, done that, bought the concert T-shirt! Hell, I have rebuilt most of my car 2 to 3 times now!! So I really know just how all of this story goes.
Best of luck finding and fixing the problem.
VR
PS, did you have all the suspension and brake parts marked like I told you to do so it would be easy to find problems like this??

So what is it? .... something simple I hope
Thanks,

Welcome to track days, Howard. When I was tracking my '00 on a regular basis I spent a lot more time on maintenance than anything else. As VR pointed out, there's a lot of work to be done if you're going to track your car regularly.
I remember a lot of guys complaining about warped rotors (stock) back in 00-01 after a hard day of road racing. I remember Andy also making the comment back in 00 or 01 about his 97 coupe.
1. Brake pads are worn out.
2. Something between the pad and the rotor.
What kind of pads are you running?
Steve
Hey Steve
Its wierd because it squeeked ALL the way home after Willow then disappeared for several days.
When I had the new rear Kuhmos put on I asked how the pads looked and he said at least 1/2 left.
I will try a blast of water and some air at the gas station. Otherwise its going to have to wait a couple of weeks till I get to Andy and have him check out my leaky differential. Or the guy that does my alignment (or trys to do it...I assume you saw my thread...Suspension Gurus Part II) also does brakes...and I need to give him another chance to fix my front caster!!!
