Lets all just start using public transportation.
That will solve all the problems.

Thanks for all the support guys , the sad part is that I shouldn't need any support or what not . This thread was posted as a question. Not a debate topic. But thanks guys for all your help, I hope to see you in some of my future threads.

Dan: I need thicker skin? Re-read your posts & then mine. & then get real. I'm not whining nor complaining, you are. & stop acting as if my intent is to disrespect "fellow airbreathers"(BTW, how lame is that? ), just grow-up & get out of other ppl's bussiness. Your simply showing your @$$ now. So leave before I have to ask a mod to lock my own thread. Keep in mind that this forum is a community of very respectful ppl who I have come to admire in my short time here. They help each other out & if you aren't helping solve problems, then you are simply making them worse. So, do your job as a member here & help out or get out.

Now get out of my thread & go invent the first electric C5(how disgraceful that would be) . So, who wants to be the buyer of the first electric car soon to be invented by Dan? Any takers? Sorry to be an @$$, but that's what it's come down to, unfortunately.

I think we should crush all the cars.... Live in houses that are only the size that we need to support our families, grow our own gardens, get rid of air conditioners, stop using air travel... use horses or just walk, get rid of TV and bring back radio, move the bathroom outside were it belongs, start killing and cooking our own food, get rid of life support, we have so much stuff we really don't need... and it's all taking a toll on the planet.

Imagine how much we could save the planet if we moved back into caves. Humans are so greedy.

i agree with NoTread, and im glad to hear that eventhough you throw codes, it doesnt screw with the performance.

Good luck, and i hope the loudmouths work out for you! They sound awsome

It will be fine if you have ls1 edit you could just delete rear 02 codes. Or you can get the rear o2 sims. It will throw a code but it wont hurt performance much if any and it doesnt smell that bad either. Try going over to LS1tech and ask the question. less uppity up over there. I have lg lts and deleted the codes for the rear 02s.. good luck

Sweet. Thanks DoubleTab, as for LS1Tech, I've been other there before many a times. Great forum. The only problem is that I find much more indepth Corvette information from here & Digital Corvettes, but I like I said it is def. a cool forum, especially for F-Bodies.

Dude, what about a set of cutouts? QTP makes some nice electric ones, and they'll still be worthwhile after your LT's. And you can close them when the man is following you, and you can open them up and be louder than Loudmouths.

Or will it simply just be code warnings and nothing more? Thanks a lot, yall rock .
My CATs have been gutted for over 3 years and the smell is no different at all then when they were before.

As to codes, if you do not turn them off in the PCM they will trip but they will not cause the engine to run any different. You can leave the rear O2s in and that prevents any of their errors.

You might get 2 errors related to CATs once in awhile but no ill effect on engine but I have not gotten them in some time.

Gutting the CATs gave a better overall sound through mufflers.

I can understand removing the cats but gutting them doesn't seem to make much sense.

Getting the car smogged becomes a major hassle, not to mention the number of people who won't be interested in a car with no cats when it comes time to sell.

At some point you'll probably wish you still had them around and may end up buying some to replace the ones you destroyed.

When your in a state like Ca or any state that does look for cats having them gutted solves that and back 4 years ago not many performance CATs were out and ones that were out were big bucks.
As for passing EPA IM tests my Z06 passes that and with the tune I got it also passes tailpipe and threadmill so its who does the tuning that can make a non CATs car still pass.

Most header and CAT back exhaust end up moving the CATs further back so it would still fail smog tests if smog shop sees CATS are not in the required distance from heads so performance CATs would fail also.

So the advantage you have with them gutted instead of removed is that you had to get a smog tune?

That's giving up some power when you don't have to instead of having the cats around to slap on when it comes time to smog.

I removed my exhaust and welded in some striaght pipe, the smell is no different and the sound is much better ( more like an old muscle car ) just get the o2 sims and call it a day.
P.S for all the guys that say removing the cats arnt worth power are wrong, I ran my car all stock with no cats and 2.73s on a 90 degree day and went 13.30 at 105.9 the other day. Engine temp was at 215 also. I havent seen any all stock a4 2.73s go that fast before, specaily when its that hot out. I say it was do to removing the cats

I've been gone from the Forum for a while. Doesn't seem to be the same pleasant/helpful place I left.
