steering column lockup
undefinedundefinedundefinedMy 2001 Z06 had the dreaded streering column lockup. I had it towed to the dealer who still has it. He said mine isn't covered under the recall in spite of the "pull key, wait 10 seconds" and "steering column lockup" readout on the dash. Is he correct? If so, I owe $527 plus the tow truck did $1100 damage to my steering rack. After some argument, the dealer daid he would pay that part since he called the tow truck. ow do I know if mine is the recalled problem or not? Thanks for your help!

The CLB install is so easy, you could do it in the dealers driveway! By the way, the steering rack is probably OK, and he was probably just trying to rip you off by getting you to have him repair that too! And there's probably nothing wrong with it! These are the very reasons I will NEVER take my car to the dealer!!!
