My 98 C5 Vert has the factory Delco CD head unit in it. Without ripping the the stereo out does anyone know if it has a CD changer port on teh back? Do they all come with one regardless if you have the changer bought with the car.
The reason I ask is I have a XMRoady2 that I want to directly hook into the factory head unit using a GM10-AUX. I want to ensure this will fit before I order it.
Do you think this product will do what I am looking for?
I think the GM10AUX may require an additional cable that is $59 (Pie COR HAR). I don't want to spend over $70 for this little project.
I see this everywhere:
Location: Trunk/Hatch
Note:
Use with PIE Part # COR-HAR if not pre-wired.
First, if your head unit has an Aux button, it supports a CD changer. Second, if it doesn't already have a GM changer, there is no harness to the back. There are two connectors in the pass footwell under the fusebox that the harness connects to (some early C5s, possibly 98s had one connector and a 3 wire {I think} pigtail. There are instructions on how to wire this in the tech tips). You have to buy a harness, PIE's Cor-Har or the Chevy part to hook to these to these two connectors. If you're using an adapter for an Ipod or such, you don't have to run the harness all the way to the back like you do for the CD changer. Just add the adapter to the end of the harness and store the excess cable behind the carpet. I guess if you're ambitious, you could cut out the extra length and splice it back together.
Hope this helps. I learned it while installing a changer in my 02.
