I own a 2000 Corvette with 22,000 KMS' on it. About 15,000 miles. I am having a Warranty Claim refused because of some bolt on performance parts that have absolutly nothing to do with the transmission. My 1st, 2nd, & reverse synchro's in my 2000 corvette need to be replaced. And the warranty company says it has happened because of the increased horsepower in my car from items such as., air intake, shorty headers, borlas exhaust, the fact that the car is lowered 2" and evn my damn tires!!!!. Yes you read it correctly, they are trying to say that because my tires are now 295 on the back in stead of the stock 275 if has voided my TRANSMISSION WARRANTY!!!!!
I now have a $5000.00 bill that the warranty company will not pay for. What I am asking of you guys is any information or past experiences any of you have had dealing with type of thing. You all know & I know that this is a bunch of bull. Please help me out with this matter. I do not have much time either. I would really appreciate it.
Not all warranty co.s are created equal. I had to get a lawyer involved when the tranny in my Cobra went south. They wanted to drop ship a junkyard to tranny to my dealer. The letter from my atty and the refusal of my dealer to warrant the work if a junkyard tranny was used got me a new tranny installed.Federal law states the any aftermarket parts that arent not directly involved with parts that failed , are the only parts that would not be covered as they werent originally on the car.
You need to be tenacious and informed in dealing with the warranty company. The tenacity is up to you. Being informed just takes some reading time at a web site that lays out what the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is all about. Here's a great web site to start at.

Thank You
I replaced my transmission with a rebuilt unit from Rodney for $1500. Then filled it up with $30 worth of Syncromesh. So I wonder how the tally comes to $5000?
