Do want to keep this car?
If you are going to keep it ,I would replace the motor with a 402 ls2
Or stroke the present motor.
If you want to do it cheaper sell the car stock and get a newer corvette with the good rod bolts and lower mileage then do the H/C
2002 or newer have all the good stuff for high hp and rpm
I had to do all the weak stuff to my 2000.
rod bolts ,chain ,oil pump, pcv mod, ls6 manifold ,this stuff is good to go on a 2002 or newer

Considering that you can buy a LS6 long block from GM Parts Direct for around 5k plus shipping you have a lot to mull over. With 99k miles the engine probably could use some freshening up. And while you're in there might as well make it stronger to boot. If I was in your position, I would probably pull your motor and do a 418 or 427 stroker motor. But, depends on your budget. Good luck with your decision.
