Default Replacing Tie Rod ends

Do they make aftermarket ones? Is one set better than another? I track the car like a mad man.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

There are am ones; some with zerk (grease) fittings. As for longevity/quality vs. oem I do not know.

At one time there were posts about placeing a heat sheild over the tie rod "rubber boot".

Be careful with the aftermarket stuff, often to gain strength or durability you're losing streetability. The ones you can grease need to be greased often, and they are susceptible to the elements. Fine for a track car, not so great on a car that sees rain or snow. They're not that hard to change (even for you), I'd try one more time and see if this becomes a recurring problem or if it's a one time thing before you get too crazy.

And is 10 seconds off the pace really "tracking the car like a madman?"

Hi Kid,

Greetings to you. GM, Federal Mogul, Moog, Adco, and, PST are just a few of the well known manufacturers of quality o.e. and aftermarket "tie rod" suspension parts. Now, in regards to the existence of an aftermarket upgrade for the Corvette C5 outer tie rod ends, Vette Brakes and Suspension in Florida manufactures "heavy duty outer tie rod ends" for the C5. Personally, I have had this product (VBP part# 97530) on the front end of my own C5 for three years. And, I have been most pleased with this product. My alignments have been consistently straight since having installed this product. And, as an added bonus, the added longevity of even tire wear has been exceptional. Do speak to "Robin" at Vette Brakes to receive more feedback regarding the availability and benefits of this great product. As is with any upgrade, success with an upgrade is not only dependent upon quality, but also, real applicability, usage, and, your own style of driving and consistent mechanical maintenance. Let us know how it turns out.

Best Wishes to You,
Eden
