Default Engine removal procedure

Contemplating whether or not I do this myself w/ the help of a buddy or pay a shop. Fyi, I would be using a lift.

Just want to get an idea on what it takes to drop it from the bottom. How long it took, whether or not you had to or should drop the rear as well and so on..

Any information or link to a howto would be perfect..

One guy on here (Baballa - sorry spelling) said he jacked his car up high enough to get it out without a lift. From the above pics, I don't see how this could be done. I know that they can come out from the top but I think that is a biach too.

I'm glad I saw this thread. Removing the entire drive train would probably be much much easier than removing just the engine. So basically, you jack the car up, remove some of the mounting bolts, lower car, jack stands under, get under low car, remove the remaining mounts and then lift, and voila, there is the drivetrain.

I would think for reassembly it would be easier to do the engine, the front cradle, torque/tranny, diff, and then the rear cradle separately. Yes?

Darn Arnel, I was contemplating a 402 LS-2 swap, but not no more!

Ive done it both ways, I find it easier to drop the entire drivetrain and put it back in all together

Good luck
