Default Column Lock ???? Ignition switch

Not sure what's up I'm thinking I have the dredded column lock. Yesterday I parked in the driveway for awhile then was going to move it in the garage but it wouldn't start and the column stays locked.
It was kinda hot out so I let it cool down and yet today it won't start and the column stays locked. I had they recall done last year, and also read some posts that this may not solve the issue and says it's not if but when. Is this when? If so what needs to done at this point to get it corrected? If not anyone have any ideas what's up?

had it towed to the dealer today and they said $280 + tax to replace the ignition switch ??????? 28,000 miles?

At this stage do I have to have it towed from my house to get me going?

Try wiggeling your key as the resister in yoiur key may not be making good contact. Usually the column lock will still give you power and the car will start but may not be drivable.

There is a thread from a couple of weeks ago that told how to bypass the "chip". I did this on my son's camaro and it worked fine.

Tried that also tried the other key.... no luck.
Checked out the battery hook ups aned they are tight.
just seems to be no power to the starter and column stays locked. Have power at the dash just nothing happens when the key is turned to start.
Also tried jerkin the wheel approach... column stays locked.

Try turning key on and off, on and off....many many times. I had the recalldone on my A4 and the "buzz" comes and goes when I start (but does not matter since plate installed). It is wierd may go for a week and then a few days...no buzz. It is hot now and no buzz.
