I have been told removing the MAS Sensor screen in my 02 will help performance. True? If so, what's the procedure for removing it? Or, where in the trhee volume service manual can I find it?

Not worth the risk of running to lean afterward. That is a common side effect of removing the screen. Not to mention, if you break the little tiny sensor wires inside. Not worth the risk on a $300 part.
What kind of cold air intake are you running. The screen was removed from the 02-04 ZO6s because the engineers felt that the enlarged opening in the airbox lid would give incoming air a relatively straight shot at the maf, with little or no turbulance and it does.On the stock lid the air has to make a 70 degree bend and removing the screen which is almost impossible to put back on usually does zip for improving performance and many times causes more problems. You have a vararam and you 're running rich????I think a proper tune is in order
