Hi Everyone,
I had my fuel pump replaced under warranty at the dealership after it left me stranded (long story). Anyways, the poor thing is now hard starting after sitting for an extended period of time. It sounds just like it is not getting fuel for a few moments of cranking, then gets fuel and fires up. If I only leave it for a short period of time, even a few hours, and try to restart, it catches immediately. It only seems to do it when it has sat for longer than 6 hours or so. Seems that somehow the fuel system is not staying pressurized, or the pump is not priming properly? Is there a check valve in the fuel system that may have gone bad. Could the dealer have not put in the new pump correctly. What do you all think? Should I take it back in and leave it with them till they get it right? Thanks for the help
I am sure someone will help us out. I had this problem on a different car one time and it turned out to be a leaky injector....I hope that is not it this time with on 8k miles
Prior to the original pump failing completely, you had no issues with hard starting. Correct?
That leaves three possibilties:
1. The new pump is defective.
2. The install was done improperly.
3.Something else has failed. Highly improbable, but not impossible.
I would bring it back. It can't be that difficult to check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail to verify the pump operation.

Me thinks you are right. I just was hoping it was something simple that could be fixed with out dropping it off at the dealer again for a week. Oh well, wish me luck at the dealer...I will probably need it
