I have looked all over to find a strong magnet and cant find one. I have been to Home Depot, Lowes, auto part stores, craft stores etc., and all they have are small ones. I was told that cardiologist have strong ones for pace makers, but I don't have heart problems, so I guess that is out of the question.(LOL) I have tried some of the smaller magnets and one of them programed one wheel but not the others. I could take it to the dealer but I dont want to pay for something that should be easy. The sensors are good and I had new tires put on today. Please help.
strange thing, the magnet I have worked last time but this time it is not. Could they have damaged the sensors? It was the same person who did them last time and had no problem before? Could they be installed wrong? Should I say something to them? Thanks
I tried many different magnets, all strong, and found that the one that worked best was about the size of a quarter. I was able to roll it around the valve stem and it worked like a charm. Cost something like $0.50 at the local science surplus store.
Mine did what you are having happen... if one of you sensors honks the horn... they all should... unless.. like mine..98... the batteries were weak... and no matter what size magnet you have.. they just quit... I had to replace.
took it by the corvette shop and they said that two (the soame two I am having trouble with) of the 4 would not program and that just by changing the tires they could have been broken. Does this sound right? Does any one have any 98 sensors that they want to sell at a reasonable price. I know I can get them at fred beans. But if anyone has some that would be helpfull. Thank You.
A speaker magnet works well, but any magnet should do. If you have the newer style sensor, built into the valve stem. I found that the trick is to not roll the magnet around but just hold it on the end of the valve stem for a 3-5 seconds. It will then honk. If you have the older style that is banded to the inner barrel, then you have to roll the magnet around until you find the sensor. This style is much more aggravating.
Good Luck.
I went to my local ACE hardware store and they had a magnet display with at least 10 different types of magnets. I bought one with a 25lb pull because I had problems with the small speaker magnets
