I'm throwing a DTC P1416. According to my list "Secondary Air Injection(AIR) System Bank 2". What does this mean, and where do I look to fix it? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
I had this come up about a month ago. The air injection check valve behind the intake manifold is suck. There are two solutions. One is to remove and replace it which is a real pain. Or the fix that another forum member provided to me which was easy and worked just fine - no more code. This involves disconnecting the air pump line where it "y's" near the middle of the driver's side exhaust manifold, then adding a couple of squirts of WD-40 followed by a few chasher shots of low pressure (aprox 25 psi) compressed air. This dislogded the valve and lubricated it enough to correct the problem. You will find a thread and photos regarding this fix if you use the search function.
Greetings to you. In an effort to assist you: Please refer to a recent thread titled "Code 1416" posted by fellow CF member "Grumpy", and, dated 7-21-05. Scroll down this page and you will see the informative and solutionary response that I have listed to this very common Secondary Air Pump systems failure: the notorious air check valves. Here is the link at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...416&forum_id=1. Again, if the link does not function, do a search by prompting "Code 1416" in the search link task bar at the top of the C5 Tech webpage. And, Grumpy's threadpage for this problem will pop up including my response. Frankly, there is a wealth of information regarding this common malady here at the CF website. Happy to help.
