Default quarter mile times

Went to the track and had 5 runs. They ranged from 13.74 to 13.91. Speeds were from 99.8 to 101.2. 60 foot times were from 2.04 to 2.18. The temperature was in the mid 90's with high humidity. The car is a 2004 a4 with a 3.15 rear. I was alittle disappointed--wanted at least 13.5 and about 104 mph. It is completely stock. What do you guys think? Is the high temp costing me a few tenth's. Thanks.

It may have some to do with it but not all...I am guessing it has more to do with your launch and spinning the tires off the line. I ran a 13.3 @ 107MPH in my stock 97 A4 with 3:15's and run flats! To get lower it would take drag radials....my 60' times were in the 2.2 or higher cuz the damn thing would not stop spinning

This was in Florida so my tems get pretty hot at the track as well...they say what you take off your 60' time can take off twice that from your ET...so its launch, and spin that kill us! are you racing on run flats? if so, don't heat them up by doing a burn out- it really does nothing but eat the tires up...

have fun!

I see a ton of stock vettes averaging what you are doing. Just add a new air intake and a tune you can get down to the low 13s with a little practice at launching.

I have an 04 with 315s. Never ran it stock. After putting on a black wing air filter and installing a Predator tune it went a 13.09 @ 107.The tune woke it up.

My 04 coupe with 315's and a different airfilter ran 13.1. I then switched to a Blackwing, added LG's, X-pipe, Corsa Indies and a tune put me at 12.79. Good luck. As someone else posted, your 60' will make a huge difference.

Thanks for the replies. Those are some good times. I'm considering some of the things you all suggested, a different air cleaner and maybe a different tune, that would be about it. I must say I really would like to get in the twelves!!!! But, the low 13's would suffice--I think!!!!!

and then into the 11s. I started out like you, happy with a low 13 run then wanted more so I got into the mid to high 12s. I now believe I am in the low 12s with the new cltuch and the headers.

With the H/C package coming by end of the year I might acheive high 10s or low 11s. I think then I will be happy...

I know where you guys are coming from...but i really don't plan on any changes other than air cleaner and a tune--plus the track that is less than 2 miles from me is closing this year. The next closest is about 40 minutes away. It really was fun at the track--my brother has a 99 6 -speed and we raced each other all 5 times. He had trouble with traction and missed some gears on three of the runs--I won those three times, but when he got all his gears he beat me--I knew he would. He has a performance air cleaner and did a tune. I think his best was 13.5 and about 105 mpg. With better tires I think he would have been real low 13's at least. Thanks again for your responses!!
