Hey guys, the other night I was backing out of a driveway and as I was doing so, I heard a pop from the front end of the car. I had the wheel all the way to the left and after the car rolled about a foot (and I started backing up at a normal speed), there it was... It sounded like something shifted and it came from the wheel area or in that vacinity... It happened a few months ago too but I thought nothing of it... Any ideas?
I would just pull the wheel,, and inspect the caliper to see if it is loose,, then check the sway bar link,, wheel bearing loosness and of course the lug nuts. Just my thoughts.. 99 Nassau Blue
If you have the wheel maxed to the left, you may be hitting the bump stops that prevent you from going any further. a popping noise is normal. Try not to turn it all the way
I have had the save problem when running heavy camber and race tires. After changing back to street alignment and even with the same race tires up front, no more "POP".
Go Figure!
I have the same problem off and on for several months now. As soon as I get a chance I am going to pull the caliper off and see if the pins are rusty and stuck. I'm thinking it may be a brake pad that is hanging up or a loose caliper bolt. Let me know if you find something definitive.
the same thing happened to me, but i ran over an empty water bottle, and it made a loud pop.
Actually it's not the breaks becuase I just put on new calipers, rotors, and sway bars (within the last 500 miles) and this problem started before the install and has continued after...
I'm taking it to my girls' dad's shop and he's going to put it on a lift and play with it... I'll keep you posted, thanks for the feedback so far!
