Add a vram intake ($325 and 3hrs labor) and a set of nice mufflers (I got corsa indies for $1000, but you can find much cheaper), a 160 tstat and reprogram your fan settings to operate the engine at about 175-180 and you will have a significant performance increase. I did.

It would help if you could clarify what your goals are. To boost performance, do you mean more engine power for road racing or just for quick take-offs?
Do you plan on drag or auto x racing it?

To be specific about these goals will help others guide you to the right combo of equipment.

A good start for any stock set-up is a better breathing air intake like Blackwing, Vararam, etc.
If you want better street starts, and am improvement in the cars acceleration, I'd look into better gears/torque converter.

If you want more power I wouldn't bother at all with cat-back exhaust systems yet, that is more for improved sound on stock motors anyway.
Long tube headers, hi-flow cats and x pipe plus a tune will yield excellent improvements in power.

Gears, exhaust, intake for starters. If I can do it, you can do it. How To's are here.
