Default Difference between A4 and a M6 differential?

Found a 3.73 differential out of a M6. Will it fit on a A4 with 2.73s?

Physically, it will go right in. You will need computer programming for shift points, etc.

You will need to re-use the plate on your current rear as the 6 speed does not use one. When you look at both rears you will see what i'm talking about. The plate is where the output shaft goes into the rear end.

Is that the seal that needs to be pried off? Also is a new TC needed or will the stock one work well. I don't race but thought about taking it to the local drag strip just to check out my times?

AMEN to that !!!

Don't forget to transfer over the seal plate. Here is a pic of a carrier with the seal plate missing:

stock one will work just fine. But if you ever plan on going with a higher stall TC... then you'll pay double the labor charges to do the gears seperate from the TC.

Thanks Mike, that's a great write up. I'm thinking of doing the work myself. Thanks for all the replies. Eric
